CNC Machined Steel Counterweights for the Aerospace Industry
Accurate Thread Products completed this custom CNC machining project for a customer in the aerospace industry. These counterweights are used to balance turbine assemblies in aircraft. They are machined from AMS 5732 and 5665 alloys designed to withstand the temperatures and pressures seen in jet engines. Weights are machined in various shapes and sizes for our customers, depending on the application, with dimensional tolerances of ±0.010". Shapes are machined on precision CNC vertical milling and turning centers. The weights are then reamed and deburred before being heat treated, cleaned, and etched with our dot peen engraver.
Weights are checked for dimensional conformance, hardness, and material discontinuity using FPI testing methods. We produce over 20,000 of these counterweights a year with a typical lead time of 8-10 weeks. Our services are focused on serving the needs of the aerospace, military, and commercial industries.
